RF Shielded Enclosures
RF Shielded Enclosures (Quiet Rooms) for High-Performance Electromagnetic Isolation
At C-INTECH, we design, fabricate, install, and test radio frequency (RF) shielded enclosure systems for facilities that require controlled radio-frequency conditions. Each enclosure is engineered around the required frequency range, attenuation target, access needs, utilities, and operating environment.
Why RF Shielded Enclosures Matter
Uncontrolled RF signals can affect measurements, equipment operation, communications, and information security. A properly designed enclosure establishes a defined electromagnetic boundary around the protected space.
- Block External RF Noise: Reduce radio-frequency signals entering from nearby transmitters, equipment, wireless systems, and other sources.
- Prevent Data Leakage: Limit RF signals leaving secure rooms, communication spaces, and environments containing sensitive electronic systems.
- Ensure Measurement Accuracy: Create controlled conditions for RF measurements, equipment evaluation, research, and electromagnetic compatibility testing.
- Improve System Reliability: Reduce RF-related disruptions that can affect sensitive electronics, communication systems, and test equipment.
What Is an RF Shielded Enclosure?
An RF shielded enclosure, sometimes called an RF quiet room or Faraday cage, is a conductive structure designed to attenuate radio-frequency signals entering or leaving a controlled space. Unlike a standard room, the enclosure treats walls, floor, ceiling, joints, doors, ventilation, power, data, and other penetrations as parts of one shielding system.
Performance depends on the entire enclosure, not only the panel material. A poorly sealed joint, unfiltered conductor, unsuitable door, or uncontrolled service opening can reduce the shielding effectiveness of the complete room.
Key Features
- Project-specific shielding effectiveness
- Typical 80-120 dB design targets
- Specified kHz-to-GHz test ranges
- Copper, steel, or aluminum construction
- Optional RF absorbing materials
- RF-tight doors and access points
- Filtered electrical power entries
- Controlled data and utility penetrations
- Shielded ventilation assemblies
- Engineered bonding and grounding
RF absorbing materials may be installed where internal reflections or standing waves must be controlled. An enclosure with absorbers is not automatically an anechoic chamber; the internal treatment must be selected for the required frequency range and test application.
Types of RF Shielded Enclosures We Design
We develop RF shielded enclosure systems for applications ranging from equipment-level isolation to full-scale controlled rooms.
Modular Shielded Rooms
Scalable panel systems that can be integrated into laboratories, technical facilities, renovations, and new construction.
